I had an epi but it did not work and after 19 hours of labor I had to have an emergency c-section due to my blood pressure and my sons heartbeat. |

I started having minor contractions at 12a the day before my son was born. I don't remember times but I had an epidural and finally about 29 hours after I checked in I was finally at 10 cm. Two hours after I was at 10 cm, I was told that my son is not dropping into position and that I needed a c-section. |

I had a completely natural child birth at home with our mid wife. It was a wonderful experience and I strongly encourage women to give birth naturally. That is not to say that I wasn't in some serious pain, but that is to be expect, we're giving birth after all. I had some difficulties as well that had I been in the hospital they would have performed a c-section. Luckily my midwife was very knowledgeable and with the aid of natural herbs and my husbands support we were able to deliver a healthy boy after 23 hours. Our bodies really are incredible! And our ability to forget the true feeling of pain is fabulous! |

My first delivery i was induced and had on epi, i wish i hadn't. So i told myself the next time i wouldn't use anything and i didn't. Things went so much better, but i was only in labor for and hour and a half. The third one i had two pain shots and thats it. Labor lasted five hours. Wasn't too bad. I encourage women to believe in themselves and hold off as long as they can, you can do it. |

I had an epidural; however they realized that as soon as it was inserted I was already dialated to a 10 so they turned off the medication and I started pushing. Nobody believed me that I felt the need to push because I was only a 4 less than an hour before this... So even though I technically had an epidural, I never received the meds and went through natural childbirth. |

I tried to do it natrual, but ended up having back labor, I didn't get an epi till I was 6 cen dialated, and my total labor only lasted 11 hours. I gave birth to my daughter at 9 centemeters dialated, and pushed 3 times. My total delivery was only about 15 min. I am however still experiencing lower back pains, because they had to stick several times before they got it in, I guess my back is curved is such a way that the anastisologist couldn't fine the right angle to put it in. But I would definitly do it again, my daughter is so worth it. |

My daughter was breach so I knew I had to have a c-section but 8 weeks before my due date I went into pre-term labor. So I spent the next three weeks on bed rest with labor pains. They gave me meds to stop the contractions. They worked for a little bit but they made me so sick. Finally I told my doctor I couldn't take it anymore, the contractions were still coming. So he scheduled the section after giving me steroid injections to help her lungs develop. She came five weeks early and was 5lbs 2 oz but was very healthy and came home with me after the normal time in the hospital. Now she's almost 7 months old and a whopping 18lbs. She's so perfect and so worth every ounce of pain. |

With my 1st child i went all natural. It was the greatest accomplishment of my life. To get through labor without any drugs, its really just a mind thing. If you tell yourself you can do it and you look at the end result, then you can. With my second i wanted to try an epidual and experience that, WOW. Let me tell you, no pain at all. I didnt even no i was pushing. And afterward i was so not tired and exhausted like i was the 1st time around. |

No signs of contractions nothing, it was a normal day. At 12am I woke to go to the bathroom and my water broke. Contractions probably started about 1-2 hours later. Went to the hospital because my blood pressure was high. 10 hrs later I went by ambulance to a more major hospital because they figured I would need a c-section. 12 hours later and 3 requests by the resident doctor the surgeon finally decided it was time for the c-section. In all 36 hours of labor! At some point I got an epidural I just can't remember when, it was late in the game I know that and it didn't completely take so I could feel some contractions. But a healthy baby boy was born and it is the best thing in our lives. |

My doctor sent me in to be induced because the water around the baby was low, but due to unforseen events they told me I had to have a c-section. I actually was very happy about that because I was deathly afraid of giving birth since this was my first child. So 6 hours after my arrival to the hospital I had my c-section and they found that the umbelical cord was wrapped around her neck twice because of the low water. I was greatful I ended up needing that c-section because there's no telling how that birth would have went and I would have had to have a c-section anyway! I was planning on having an epidural though! |

All my girls were very overdue but my water never broke on it's own even when contractions were 3-5 mins. I had to be induced with all of them. And pitocin is not my friend, so the epi was a must! |

I was sent in 3 weeks early. They tried to induce overnight only, and the cervix was not ready so nothing happened. He then took me for a c sec. I have three herniated disks in my back and was told they would not allow me to go through labor, but he had to try inducing due to insurance. So they tried giving me a spinal and it would not take due to the compressions, so they had to put me under anesthesia. My son was born perfectly fine and healthy at 12:20, but they had trouble with me and a longer story short, I did not see my son untill after 5:00 that night. I saw pictures of him before I actually saw him. |

I got up in the morning to use the bathroom and my water broke but I wasn't having any contractions and I wasn't dilated when I got to the hospital so they had to give me pitocin, which was a nightmare, so i got an epidural at 6cm and was able to rest; which was a smart idea since I had to push for two hours. Total labor 11 hours. Result: Healthy baby boy 7lbs 60z |

I had an epideral bc I thought I couldnt hande the pain. Cramps from my monthly would double me over. But when it came time to pushing they took the meds away bc i wasnt being affective. In the end I was proud of myself but the pain was unreal. I think for my next go around I will try it with out any meds. |

I had 22 1/2 hours of labor. After 12 hours and I wasn't progressing, I hadn't dialated more than 1 cm, my doctor gave me petocin. The pain got to be so much and I was trying to be strong then realized I needed the epi. I didn't get the epi until the last few hours. My doctor told me that the pain I got from petocin would be the worst labor pains I will ever experience. So if I don't have to get the petocin in the future I could probably have a natural delivery. |

I had always wanted to do it naturally, but allowed for the possiblity that maybe I couldn't. Turned out I didn't have a choice! I was 8 cm when we finally went to the hospital, so there wasn't time for anything. I was in labor for a total of 51 hours, but it wasn't that bad until I started pushing. If my husband hadn't been there to help me (make me, really!) with the breathing, I'm sure it would have been way worse. An hour after we got to the hospital, my son was born, and boy did it hurt! (They had to use the vacuum and I got an episiotomy.) Next time, I think I'll ask for something to take the edge off. I'm so glad I did it naturally, but I think once was enough for me! |

I wanted to do it naturally. I was induced and given pain meds. Ultimately at the last minute I chose epidural. I ended up with a 4th degree tear. I guess next time I probably will have to have a C-section. |

well i had a c-sec after being 2 weeks after my due date i wasnt dialated at all she just didnt want to come out...and to top it off they thought she was going to be 9lbs so my doc told me we could go to the hospital that night and induce but the risks were that she could get stuck and be paralyzed on one side and there was a big risk that i would need a c anyway so i opted for the c especially since they thought i would need it anyway...and it wasnt that bad at all once i got up i was actually rearranging the furniture in the room!! |

was induced, given pain meds, then an epidural. Supposedly being induced with petocin the contractions are alot more intense and you are a lot more likely to get an epi with that, which i did not know. I wanted to do naturally, and next time i want to try, but i think being induced that is already unnatural in itself! 3 hours induced, 12 hours labor, 3 hours pushing. |

after 28 hours of labor I had an emergency c-section. after, nurse had the nerve to tell me I could have done it naturally. My son was born completely bruised from head to to because he didn't "FIT" the natural way. he was 9 lbs 2 oz - if I have a second child the room will be booked and waiting for me to get there. |

I started having contractions around 4pm and at 1am went to the hospital. My stupid doctor decided she was going to break my water to speed things along (ended up scratching my baby girls head numerous times). I really dont like needles and avoided them as long as possible. They made me get my IV around 2am.
Around 5am my contractions were very strong and I used the IV med Dermerol, I figured since the IV was already in. And that made me feel good!!! Haha! The nurse said it would make me drowsy. Immediately after giving it to me she asked me a question and I just stared at her and I asked "Does that work really fast?" and she said yeah and then I fell asleep.
And then at 10am the contractions were even stronger the IV med wasn't working anymore and I broke down and got the epidural. The epidural made me completely numb and as I was getting closer to 10cm they let it wear off. I was very upset they let it wear off! But they said I wouldn't be able to push with it.
At 12noon my daughter was born. I wish I could have something during the pushing. That pain was horrible! The pushing stage lasted 35 minutes. Not too bad for the first child. My right thigh was still completely numb from the epidural for a few hours.
I had mild back pain from the epidural for almost a week! I don't think I will ever get an epidural again but, I am sure I will get the IV meds. |

i was induced 2 weeks post due date. started having contractions. was only 2 cent dialated after 10 hours. so they broke my water. dialated 1-2 more cent. for a epi. didn't help at all i think they missed. after 27 hours in labor, was only 4 cent dialated and 90% effaced. went into a c-section. had my baby boy.
ened up he was crooked in the birth canal so he would have never came out natrally anyway so it was good that we did a c-section when we did. his little head was pressing on my pelvis bone. but he is a healthy boy and growing like a weed. can;t beleive it has been 3 years ago. |

I went in for what I thought was my second to last appointment only to find that that lack of weight gain I had experienced through out my pregnancy had become a big concern. The dr did a quick ultrasound and withing had me in at midnight to be induced three days later. Come to find out my umbilical cord was to narrow so my son wasn't getting enough fluid. 13 hrs of lying in the bed and maybe half-hour after the nurse said I was ready out popped our boy with the cord around his neck weighing 5lbs. 8oz. which I suppose is great for someone who was getting half of what they actually needed. |
