Once my daughter turns a year old, we will tell people she is 1, then 1 and a half, then 2...etc. When I hear someone is "29 months", I don't feel like doing the math, so then I end up not caring how old the kid is anyway...

Sorry if I offended anyone...just my opinion...

Right now I do in months but as soon as he turns 2, I will start doing it in years.

I agree with michelle because a 1 year old being 13 months is way different than a 23 month old..

In that case, I would say "almost two...or she'll be two in a month"...

I see your point though...

I always hated when I asked somebody how old there child was and they would tell me in months. (the whole math thing) but now that I'm a mom I find myself giving my sons age in months now to (haha)

I always hated the whole month thing too...before I had my own. Now I find myself saying 18 months all the time. I just recently started saying a year and a half. So I guess a little of both these days, but mostly months.

in months till he turns 2 then in years. Lately I've been saying almost 2, or he'll be 2 in June.

I tell people in months how old my kids are until they turn two, then I tell them in years.

For me, it's 1 year, a little over a year, 18 months, almost 2, and 2 years. :) After that, it's 2, 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2, etc.

I think it depends on the audience really. During the toddler years there is such a big developmental difference between kids who just turned one, say 13 months, or who is 18 months or even 23 months. As a parents it's these months that milestones are measured and we are used to the lingo. People who don't have children don't get it because they haven't been there or get why there would be even be a difference between a 2 year old and an almost three year old. On a certain level don't we all want are children to be judged at the right level? I firmly believe that is a big part of how we answer this particular question.

I tell in months until they are two then its like 2 or almost 3 or whatever. Although I have said 1 or 1 1/2 and things. So who knows. Depends on what mood I am in I guess. :)

for me it depends on who i'm talking to. most people get the years version but if it is a mom friend then i may say months, or someone at school (i'm in a early childhood program) so i use months there

It's funny. With my first child I would use months and with my second child I used years. I think it was because the first time around the baby books were like my bible and they always talk about the kids in months but the second time around I think I looked at the book maybe once.

In months seems to keep them younger in my mind. At 2 I do years and add in the 1/2s. Or add when the next birthday will be. Plus it seems to help others relate to the appropriate skills they may have. a 13 month old can't (often) do what a 18 month old can and so on. Its just easier for me.

I have to say months right now because my son is so big if I say only he is only one they think he must be turning 2 soon. His birthday was just 2 weeks ago. :) so 12 months

Before, they did turn 1. I did do months for my twins. Then, I did years and 1/2 a year. They are 4 1/2 years old right now. They will be 5 in January.

Well I tell people in years sence my son turned 1. But when my little girl gets here I will be doing months with her.

I counted in weeks until he was 2 months old, and I will count in months until he is 2 years old.

I think up until you child is 18 months, using months instead of years is fine (since technically your child isnt "years" old). Once 2 years hit, using months is a too much and confusing.

i dis months until he was two. now we use years. like my son is 3 years old. now before his birthday in march we said he was almost three. or will become three in march. but using months takes to much thinking. it was hard to do in weeks when i was pregnant. i used months cause i didn't keep track of weeks. lol

I had to learn to say that my son was 15 month because I did not know what was the correct saying for a 1/2 so decided to say 15 months
