I have always been leary of putting it by the doors due to the fear of accidents and then last December my husband and I were T-boned and the only thing that helped as far as my son was concerned was being in the middle.
I have always put the forward facing seat on the passenger side, but now I have a larger vehicle and I am thinking I should put it in the middle. I worry about a side impact, but I also worry about something coming through the windshield. I had a rock come right through the window while I was pregnant so I am scared of that happening again.

When I had one child and drove a car, I put him in the middle. Now that we have a van and two children, one goes on the passenger side and one goes on the driver side
Statistics say that they are safer in the middle but if you have a van like mine its either the left or the right. My seatbelt locked up behind the passengers side and now we have to put Lexi behind the drivers side.
I have one on each side - the older is on the passenger side because she is more demanding in the car, and I can see/ talk to her. I am expecting my third, and I have NO IDEA what to do now!!! Stay home I guess!!
When we only had one child we put her in the middle but when our second came we had to put one on one side of the car and one on the other because our daughter wanted to poke at our newborn and she was in a stage where she would throw her bottle and other things so we didn't want him to get hurt. She still throws things but not as much.
