My son is 5 and belives and i encourage it we even set out food for the reindeer, but I have a friend that has a daughter that is 5 also and she just sat down and told her that there was no Santa the little girl understood. She does not tell the other kids that there is no Santa. She just goes with it. Maybe I am wrong but I think it is healthy for a child to belive in Santa
My daughter is too young to get the concept...
I will probably teach her about that it's fun to pretend, but never try to make her think he's any more real than Mickey Mouse or anything.
I grew up not beliving in Santa. My mom told us from as early as I can remember that he was a real man, a very long time ago. He didnt have flying reindeer or elves. He just made toys for poor little boys and girls who otherwise would have none. Thats who Saint Nicholas was- not this immortal big red guy. lol. We knew our gifts were from our parents. We grew up poor and we really appreciated what we got- what they gave us, not santa. It was about family for us, and jesus too. And Christmas will always be my favorite holiday.
My husband grew up believing, so I will let him tell our boys when they get old enough, who Santa Clause and his reindeer are, because its important to him too. But personally, I like it better the way we did it when I was little.
