So your saying that you would want kids to be implanted with the same device as pets! So if a predator goes kidnap kids they will be more easily found.

Unfortunately, predators are evil & don't want to becaught... if the devices are planted in a specific body part- I can only imagine what the creeps will do to remove it! Punishment should be much more severe for them.

Well thats the great thing about it noone but the dr and mom would know where it would be.they have several choices.Yes w a 99% recidivism rate;they should just well...............you get my idea. Then at 18 or 21 they can get the records and have it removed.Animals are not more important then my children to me anyways.

Wow that is very extreme I never even knew that was a possibility....

I think its a great idea...there are so many people out in the world that will steal and hurt kids...i agree with being able to have it taken out at 18 years of age...i would do this with both of my girls

I have heard about this and I keep going back-n-forth on it. I think I lean more toward go for it if it will help me to help protect my child even more. Then at the same time you run into that whole big brother thing. UGGGG!!!!

WHAT??? Put a chip in our children, what are they pets? Please, this country is warped as it, let's not fall this!!!
posted by Roxanne on 12/12/2007 02:26 PM
Well personally I do not understand the reasoning in putting them in pets?Whats its purpose? Not to lose it?Im sorry, I love pets ;but spend all that money for a pet to have a chip so it dont get stolen?AKC?Ppl got tired of having their prize posessions stolen???My kids are my prize possesion, not some animal.

I've never even heard of this- and the answer is NO- heck NO- nothing gets put into my kid like that!
posted by Renata on 12/14/2007 10:00 PM
How about putting a chip in the predator? That would make a lot more sense.
posted by Erin on 12/14/2007 11:26 PM
My son won't need a chip in him to be protected. He'll be taught to yell, scream and make a big big fuss if somthing is wrong like that. Creeps like that hate attention. Then he'll tell mom or dad and WE will take him to the police station and handle it.

WOW!!!!!! my grandma used to scare the crap out of me with the " mark of the beast" i had no idea that this was an option. in some ways its good in other i dont like it what about when they grow up? they still have it can they get it removed? and what if lets say they are put into a relocation program to hide from someone but the person they are hiding from has the skills and resources to find them. then its not a verry good hiding program. then again if my 3 monh old daughter or my 2 year old son got taken by a rapist then i sure as hell would want to find them before anything was done.

What the hell is this talk of it being the mark of the beast? That is rediculous! My mom's dogs have the micro chip and it really isn't that much money! It is like $70. If you really love your dog as I do, I think it is a good investment. My dogs are part of my family. They really are the best family dogs you could ever ask for. But as for micro chipping our kids....I don't know about that one. It feels too Matrix for me. Sandi made a good point about kidnappers cutting it out of our children so that they don't get caught. And if the kidnapper was a regular at this he could have a scanner to detect where the chip is located. I like what Erin said about micro chipping all the predators. The way I see it, these sickos gave up their right to privacy, and freedom as soon as they started to act on these sick feelings. So if I am not going to get my way to execute anyone who rapes, murders, or anything against children....then we should micro chip them, and put it somewhere that if they cut it out then they die. Like on the brain, or right next to the heart (or where the heart would have been if they had one).

I don't agree with animals being chipped, far less children. However I would stop short of saying it is "the mark of the beast". I just do not think we need to mechanicize our society so much that we need electronic implants.

I never want to think of my child or any other child being abducted....it scares me so much. BUT If it meant finding my child...yes, i would do it.

Hey I agree with Erin. Chip the preditors instead.

You know, I use to work with predators in my former job, prior to being a Mom. A predator can be a child (who often had been perped upon), a teenager or a grown man or woman. The scary thing is, they will look, act & even dress just like everyone else. As much as I would want to find my child ASAP (as it wont take long for something to be done to them anyway), I don't think a chip would be successful in keeping something from happening. I think the best idea for success is prevention. Educate, educate, educate your child on what to do, who is their "safe adult" etc!

Oh yea, I like the idea of chipping the predators.....but they'd probably find a way around it.

I'm swaying back and forth from what Renata said..."NO- heck NO- nothing gets put into my kid like that!" and from what Erin said "How about putting a chip in the predator? That would make a lot more sense."

too big brothery... soon we will all have chips in use so everyone is a number instead of a person... it's all getting out of hand IMO.

If we chip our children so we can find them, who's to say a predator wont use that technology against us and use it to find a specific child?!? Now that's the scary part. I would have to agree with Stacey about education. I've already started with my children at age 2 & 4.

anyone that trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty or security. i don't know about the deserving part, but you never give the authorities more power than they need, and you never give perps power to use anything. i agree with Roxy, Erin, Katherine Ruth. like stem cell research and any other hot topic, one answer does not fit all. but ya , how about inserting a chip in the criminal. the celebrities have no privacy, they say they signed that away for stardom. let the criminals be famous too. they gave their rights away when they took someone elses rights away.
posted by deb on 12/29/2008 01:17 PM
I agree with chipping the criminals, or castrating them, hanging them, I feel like anyone who hurts a child looses their right to life. But that is only MY opinion. Having said that, my son is more important to me than anything in this world, I am not completly against the idea of having a child "low Jack", but does it have to be in a national database? Or "implanted" why not just a necklace or bracelett, like the ankle monitors people under house arrest are made to where. Something that only the parents can take off?
posted by R on 01/01/2009 10:07 PM
I agree with Erin, Chip the Criminal/Preditors! I think it would help out alot more, But then again if something does happens to a child that would only give the criminal minds the knowdgle to know that they would have to ditch a child sooner and that the child could still be in harm.

But I would never chip my child. I'm not even going to go into my reasons as to why not.

I like Erins idea of putting chips in predators LOL
But to be honest I probably would agree to have a chip put in my daughter. The thought of losing her makes me very upset and sick feeling. the thought of someone touching her or hurting her is totally unbearable. or even more simply what if she wanders off when we are at the park I would be able to find her before anything bad could happen to her at all

If it means even a small chance of helping and saving you child(ren) the answer should be yes, hands down. Thats what it really comes down to, ideally yes put the chip in the predator but that is very unrealistic, they can just remove it? Its like an ID bracelet but more advanced, so put aside your mark of the beast and big brother petty fears!! i know if any of you opposers had your child missing or abducted the first thing in your mind would be, " i should have had them microchipped". The reality is this is what the world has come to, you have to go with the technology that is advancing and take what it has to offer in this sick world. But i also think educating them is still the most important, this would just be another plus.

NO I think the child preditors should have a chip! My childs not a animal and did nothing wrong! I have a child preditors mom on my street..let me tell you its sad my child will NEVER be able to just go out side and play like when I was little. I could go swing and swim and whatever. But when my lil girl(and lil girl on the way and more to come) will never go outside w/out a RESPONSABLE adult!

I get that things happen and bad people are out there, but people should not be having kids if they are not going to keep close attention to them. I feel the same way about the kid leashes.

The world is full of weirdos. It is sad that our children cannot play outside like we use to. But being out and about with your kids is good for you too. Just keep a good radar on your kids.
