we went a little overboard this year. I think we spent about 1K on our kids this year. Normally we do a major budget like $150 per child. This year it was more like $500 per child. OUCH!!!

Um, I try not to do a limit on cost, cause it never sticks. But I do like to have about 4-5 presents for them to open, it is about the unwrapping, since my kids are still little. Also, other family members happen to send or give presents, and I think it becomes too crazy and overwhelming for them, so we limit our presents. Remember, it isn't about the presents!!!

This year I did not want to go overboard as he got so much for his b-day that we have no room for all of his stuff. He did get a few gifts already but I limited the toys and added clothes and creativity things he is into like crayons, colring books, etc. I also think it's about the unwrapping for now.

I had the hardest time finding her a Wii. But man was it worth it. Has anyone played with one? man the boxing is such a work out!! Love it but I love the fact that it gets them off the sofa.

Depends on my pocket at the time, but nothing outrageous. It should be more about the atmosphere than the gifts. Plus my son's still a toddler, last Christmas was only his second and the first that he was actually semi able to understand the season.

since we have a one and only child. We spend about $500 - $800 at christmas time. I think once we have two then it will be around 500 for each child.

My son loves the Wii and he's only 16 months old. Well, he likes Mario Kart. He can hold onto the wheel and drive. He's actually better at it then one would expect. He can hold down the acceleration button, but he hasn't figured out how to turn the wheel and hold the button down yet. He likes sitting in our laps and watching us play.

This past christmas was our son's first so we didn't go too overboard. We bought him a couple of presents so he had something to open, but we mainly got him what he needed - clothes and an activity table - and left the fun stuff to the parents. He gets spoiled during the entire year, so we try not to go overboard at christmas. :)

It really depends on how our finances are at the time. I have a 3 year old and 12 year old to buy for so I try to get them what they ask for within reason... They dont ask for much.

This year with three and one on the way I decided to buy each child 3-4 individual gifts and buy a gift for all the children together and a gift for the entire family. Next year it may be different but that was how it worked best for this year. I figure the kids get so many gifts from other family members and let's face it they don't play with half of them for more than a couple of weeks. The most expensive purchases should benefit the entire family and be something we can all use!

We celebrate Chanukah. This year our focus was on giving more than receiving. We had several of our relatives over for brunch and asked each family (including our own) to bring 2 or more toys to donate to charity. The kids also made a take home fridge magnet for each guest to remember our good time together. We also donated money to vaious local charities and food drives during the holiday.

We did buy some clothes for our kids, but the best thing we did was buy special matching mugs and hot cocoa for us to enjoy as a family. The kids loved that!

I actually don't spend that much as I go to yard sales and try to find some good stuff for them...just means i get to store stuff for a while...i just try to have the same amount of presents for them to open. so far this year, i think i've spent about 40 total for the 2 girls. but, i look for bargains and don't mind saving things. i also can't go too overboard cuz of financial reasons...and my oldest daughter's bday is in jan. too...hence the reason i start shopping during the summer and even immediately after xmas!

Well we only have one child. We don't want to bombard her with to many toys. But it seems this Year we'll be getting her about 5 gifts that we found for extremely cheap. And one that's not so cheap.

Well Ikea we plan to get her two wooden basic toys 7$ each. one 14$ play tent. At Family dollar. They have the Actual Disney Princess Activity table with the two tables for 20$ I've seen it at walmart for about 40$. A kitchen set for 12 dollars(it's a stove and oven also seen it for about 45$) and a bedroom changing area for her dollies 12$(35 bucks at k-mart) and there is this zebra that she rides from vtech we want to get her that;s on the pricey side... but this is only for this year... I'm sure things will change once we have another child. Which wont be for another year or so. hehe I know spoiled with toys...
