I started brushing her gums at 3 months once a day. Once her teeth started coming in it was twice a day. I want her to be used to doing it so I try to always make it fun.

I started when the first tooth started coming through. I feel it's important to start the habit now, so that she will always know to take good care of her teeth.

I think we started brushing my sons teeth when he had about four of them and now ( he is two) we brush them twice a day. I know some people do not think that they need to but depending on what your child is eating it is crucial. My aunt's daughter just had to go in for major oral surgery (she is not even 3 yet) because her teeth had so many cavities and decay. It comes from leaving juice on the teeth or even gummy vitamins that the kids love.

I started when they had about 4 teeth. I let my older daughter (4) brush her own teeth but the younger one (16 months) I do it and then hand her the tooth brush to "do it herself."

I started to brush my son's teeth after he was getting his second one...the doc told me that it would help to massage his gums...plus it really helps with the bedtime routine and it's fun for him in the morning once he gets up.

I brushed my daughter's gums every now and then starting at about three months. She's six months and has got two teeth coming in now, so now I plan on brushing them twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening before bed.

I just started my son (3 mos) to help get him used to it and to massage his gums. I use one of those gum massagers that slips on a finger. My daughter has been brushing her teeth since she was 2 all by herself (she is 3 now). I always do a final sweep to keep an eye on her teeth (stuck food, coloration, etc) She does it while I do mine. Its also a thing just for her and I now that she has her brother around and time with me is at a permium!

We started before teeth came in. We he started teething, I would give him a frozen tooth brush to chew on as well. He never took a pacifier so as he got older, when he needed something to chew on, it was a toothbrush. He's 3 1/2 now and loves the dentist and brushing his teeth.

I put at first sign but I have always started with a warm wash cloth before teeth to get them used to me putting something in their moths and rubbing their gums. It's getting two birds with one stone too..it removes the acids on the gums that causes pain in teething as well as softens gums for teeth to come in but it is showing baby that mommy/daddy isn't going to hurt them when putting a tooth brush in there. When their first tooth is about to come in I allow them to have a tooth brush to chew on while I sit with them and brush my own teeth.

I started brushing my boys teeth as soon as one started breaking thru. They make special gum and tooth cleaner just for infants. Good oral hygene is an important thing and the sooner you start the more likely they are to carry on with it.

I bought that blue rubber thing that you put on your finger with the rubber bristles and I started using that when I saw a tooth cutting the gums. And I continued to use it every day on her teeth and gums up until about a month ago when she got her 8th tooth and she bit me! OOCH! lol. So now since im too scared to stick my finger back in there I have a cute pink tooth brush she uses. I put a tad bit of the all natural tooth paste on it that came with the rubber finger brush and I brush her teeth then I let her play and have fun with it. She doesn't know shes really helping me keep her teeth nice and healthy.

I occaisionally brushed the gums/teeth while she was just breast fed. Once i started on other drinks and food, i brushed her teeth twice daily. Once she was old enough to hold a tooth brush, i let her brush her teeth in the morning and i would brush it in the evening.

I know that we should but she bites us, punches us and kicks us so we don't even bother trying anymore. We will try again when she understands things better, Though I have her go with me to the dentist with me every 6 mo and the dentist is able to check her, so far so good.

I think that you should rub the gums with a clean wet cloth from birth and do the same on the teeth when they got them. I didn't start brushing her teeth with a tooth brush until she was 1 and her pediatrician said to use flouride toothpaste.
