A lot of the time now doctors are giving liquid multivitamins for your infant to take. With my son I did not give it to him until he was done breastfeeding and then he had the liquid multivitamins until he was a year old and then I switched him to a chewable multivitamin.

My son's pediatrician said as long as he eats a well balanced diet, he doesn't need a multivitamin, since the nutrients he needs are in his food. If he didn't eat well, I might consider a vitamin.

My son is only 16 months and can't take them yet.

I don't think my daughter is quite old enough to take them yet, but I might give them to her when she gets older. I think she gets most of her vitamins in her food, but you never know if they are getting all they need. Also, somedays she won't eat the well balanced meal I cooked, she will only eat parts of it. Better safe than sorry. I take a multivitamin even though I think I eat well too.

The soil gets so depleted by modern farming practices that the nutrition just isn't in food like it used to be, so I give my kids Animal Parade chewables because they are a whole food, chemical free, reasonably low in sugar supplement. The ones you find in department stores and pharmacies (Flintstones, for example) are practically poisonous with all the artificial colors and other garbage that gets put in there!

I agree with Indigo in that I would never give my kids drugstore brand or Flintstones. I give them Vitabears from Melaleuca, because they're more highly absorbed into the bloodstream than other vitamins.

I used to feel that you could get what you needed from the food you ate but, when I meet my wife I noticed how healthy her daughter looked so I started my kids on the same supplements that she used and I became a believer. My youngest daughter at that time used to have thin unhealthy hair now she has thick healthy hair.I have also seen improvments in my own health over the last 5 years. Last year there was a study led by Dr. Gladys Block a professor of public health nutrition and epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley.
The study compared people who over a period of 20+ years
Used No Supplements,
Used other Supplements,
Used Shaklee Supplements.
The study showed that Shaklee users had better levels of biomarkers of health. The retained normal levels of:
Blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, Triglycerides, Homocysteine, & C-reactive protein.
If you are interested in supplements for you or your children I would love to help you choose whats best.

My kids have always been very healthy so we've never taken any suppliments, but it has come to my attention quite often lately that they should be on something.

I think my son is still too young, but he is growing very healthy with all the fruits, veggies and balanced diet he is now ea ting.

Right now my daughter eats a very healthy balanced diet so I don't feel that she needs them. My ped prescribed some when she was 6 months but they made her so constipated I stopped them. If she starts getting picky about foods as she gets older I would start to give them, but I would rather find all natural vitamins then the OTC kinds.

Seven Seas Multivitamin liquid. It actually has a nice fruity orange flavor my son likes.

its all well in good to give your child vitamins for an extra boost but the child should have to learn that he/she has to eat their food to make them big and strong. My son is only 6months but I know that when he is old enough to feed himself I will make sure that he eats what I give him.

I am a very organic person so I only give my kids vitamins that are time released and org. Also we get the most of our vitamins from food.. I believe if you doing it right vit are a just in case supplement.. This is just my opinion....

Most if not all vitamins out there on the market don't have the absorbancy rate that you may think and aren't really helping your children. I've looked into a few different brands and finally decided to give my little ones Koala Pals which has Oligofructose Complex and that gives them a higher then 85% aborbancy rate for getting the nutrients they need from the vitamin unlike others like One a day and Flintstones which have lower then a 10% absorabancy rate.

my son has sensory issues that affect his diet, thank GOD for multivitamins!

I've tried giving them to Piper but she rejects them. She doesn't like gummie or chewable. She does eat well though.

Vitamins are only necessary if your child(ren) are not eating a well evenly balanced diet. Unfortunately alot of the childrens vites have extra sugars and the ever dreaded Red # 40 dye. This dye is like crack to an infant or toddlers fragile system. An all natural chewable/gummie naturally flavored, no added sugars, dyes, or anythind else is your best bet. My 3 y.o. Aiva is on the Spectrum and has severe Sensory Processing Disordrer, and the smells of most foods cause her to gag and occasionally vomit. We are able to get alot of good stuff in but not nearly enough for a balanced diet. Money is a factor in our everyday purchases, and we don't spend alot on our vitamins. We get Equate Gummie Multivitamins and mineral supplement. Its all natural and grody yucky stuff free. Its not overpriced like most of the stuff in "Health Food" stores is. If you take the time to read labels, you can find most of the same items for less @ local grocery stores and we get ours from Wal-Mart. Its exactly the same quality as something from say Richards, or somewhere comparible.
