The only reason, I regift is when I don't have the money and when I don't feel like going shopping.

I don't have any money to spend on gifts so when someone gives me a gift that I don't like then I give it to someone I know will enjoy it.

I don't see why this is seen as a negative by so many people. If you are giving it to someone who will likely enjoy it without having to spend money on it, so much the better!

If I receive something that does not appeal to me, I respectfully thank the giver and then bless someone else with it. I usually get a pretty good reaction out of the end recipient. I wouldn't be offended if they regifted either.

Ha, busted! I only reuse the gift bags when needed and if it is too cute to throw away. Too funny.

I may give someone else a gift I received and didn't like, however it wouldn't be for something like a birthday or other holiday. I would just give it to them and be honest. I would never pass it off as something I thought of and bought for them! Plus, I'm a bad liar.

absolutely! if something suits someone i know better than i, away it goes. it is a part of Reduce, Re-use, Recycle for me.
i see re-gifting as a positive rather than a negative |

If I receive something that isn't for me and I know someone who would like it better, it's given to that person for no reason, not wrapped, not as a gift, with an explaination as to why I got and why I thought they might like it better. Anything else is a little tacky. There have been times when I was short on cash and have given a home made gift or homemade baked good for a gift. Most people seem to enjoy something you've made with your own hands and time. Reusing a gift bag is a given in the climate of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse. If it's not beat up, of course you reuse it. No sense in killing a tree.

The items I usually regift are the ones that I or the kids already have. Instead of exchanging it, I put it away until a birthday or holiday comes up and I look through it to see if it's a suitable present for that person. The kids toys/clothes are defintiely easier to regift =)

A few times when I've visited my brother & sis-in-law's house, I have mentioned how much I like their kitchen knife block set on their counter. Recently, they reminded me I gave them to them years ago. I finally admitted it was a re-gifting situation and if I'd realized how nice it was, I would have kept it! :-)

I only regift when I've gotten duplicate items and don't feel like returning one and know someone else who would love to have the item. Otherwise I don't regift.

I do regift! But most people know that about me :) I do try to be discreet not to save face but feelings. I would rather someone else use the item if I don't really need it. And it cuts down on waste. How many lotion sets and slippers do we really need? I'm a huge garage sale fanatic and like to find nice baskets to reuse, then I usually add homemade cookies or gifts, perhaps a candle I received and don't need, etc. along with other items. I look at it as more like recycling, I would rather my gift be recirculated and make someone else happy if they already have a like item, then have it sit in a closet or drawer. Its the sentiment behind the gift more than the gift for me :)

Only new or unused stuff that I truly think the person will like.
I regift or give to Toys for Tots duplicate toys. |

We've recieved duplicate toys for our son and sometimes it's not worth the hassle of returing a $15 item that didn't come with a gift receipt . . . I either use it when we need a gift for a last minute party invite or donate it to toys for tots. I think regifting is only "bad" when it's mean-spirited. With shipping costs it's not always practical to return something.
