No one ever mentions how hard it was at the beginning. It's all the joy and miracle of birth....yeah, you're forgetting the constant crying of the first couple of days as they get use to their new bodies.

I know each child is different but I always figured that by 6 months she would be sleeping through the night without any problems not 2 years later and still waking up 5 times a night. There are so many things I wish I knew before hand but I would never trade anything now. I love being a mother however it is the most exhausting wonderful thing in the world.

Once I stopped listening to other people (who'd say silly things like "your baby can't sleep with you" and "you have to put that baby down SOMETIME") and started listening to my instincts (and then followed that with research to shut up the people saying the silly things), I discovered parenting to be a wonderful thing and have some of the sweetest kids on the planet.

Just realizing that you are a parent 24/7.When you are sick, when you have a bath, when you are supposed to be on a relaxing vacation, you are always a mom first. Its so fun and so changing.I wouldnt change my mom role for anything.

I work in day care for along time and helped raise my brother but when i had my own kids it was like i had never been around kids..everything is so hard at first and stressful but well worth it in the end.

It's definitely more difficult when your child comes into the world prematurely is colic and suffers from asthma. Only to learn that he's also learning disabled. No child rearing book could have prepared me for this...

It was more difffult then i ever thought. Raising a child doesnt come with an how to book, so you learn as you go.

I never knew how much worry it was to be a mother. You just never stop worrying about so many things.

My daughter is slightly autistic so things are never as expected.

I had no idea how little sleep I would get.

Well it makes a difference when you have help. My baby has been sleeping through the night for about 2 months. He is 6 months old. I love being a mom and glad that I waited until I was ready to devote all my time.

I did not have a lot of help when my children were born but, as they get older, it is definitely rewarding!

My husband helps a lot but I have to think that I was blessed with a fairly easy child. You hear horror stories of babies screaming when they wake up in the morning and their still screaming when they go to bed at night. I have to say we only had like 3 weeks of that and the rest has been cake

My mother and father always said I would have children just like me to make-up for what they went through. Curse them but it has been true he is a willful, independent, mischievious, darling child. Although maybe the next one will be a bit easier.
