This program offers a unique blend of art projects and activities while providing quality arts education for passionate young artists. Kids are encouraged to explore and experiment within our open studio environment. Everyone is given the freedom to seek out their own artistic interests and work at their own pace, while being guided along by our staff of professional artists and teachers.
Multiple projects will be introduced daily, including learning how to paint and draw from photographs, sculpting with plaster and clay, creating your own cartoon characters, jewelry making, mosaics, mask building, and much more. Through an exploration of techniques, materials, and approaches, children will develop their artistic talents, build their imagination, and develop their own artistic voice. Every Friday is "Art Show Day", giving kids the chance to put together an exhibit using some of the artwork they made throughout the week!
Each week we will have a visiting guest artist that will do a demonstration relating to their own work. In addition to all the fantastic art, kids also get the chance to participate in outdoor and indoor recreational activities, play fun games, and enjoy making new friendships with other young artists!
All Instructors are professional artists and teachers. Adam Lister is the head instructor for each session throughout the summer. Adam received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Art in 2003. He is the director of the Adam Lister Gallery in Fairfax, VA. Adam has been teaching art to children and adults for over 12 years in public and private schools in New York City and throughout Northern Virginia.
All art supplies and materials are included. Each child must bring their own lunch and a drink.
