Friends of mine have a baby who was scheduled to begin his MMR immunization in a month or so - but who has just been diagnosed with German measles (rubella) because a few of the parents in his playgroup with older toddlers decided that they'd rather buy into disproven allegations of autism risk rather than get their kids immunized.
As a result, not only are THEIR kids sick, but they've spread the disease to several OTHER kids in the playgroup, who are young enough that they couldn't get the shots and young enough that the infection has gotten them REALLY sick.
