Working with the Director, the Lead Instructor is responsible for teaching classes, class preparation and implementation of Engineering for Kids pre-set class curriculum and manage Assistant Instructors and students. The Lead Instructor will have school/recreation employee interaction as well as extensive parent and student contact. A Lead Instructor is responsible for preparing a suitable learning environment for children by making sure all , necessary materials are on site and available for classroom set up. This position requires experience working with children, a fun and zany personality, and classroom management abilities.
Classes are student-directed and your role as the instructor is to provide direct instruction when necessary, but majority of your time is spent coaching students in their inquiry. Lesson plans, supplies, and training are provided.
This IS NOT a baby-sitting job... or a watch-a-bunch-of-kids-play-job... or an entertain-kids-for-an-hour-job. (not that there's anything wrong with that! That is just not what WE do!)
This IS a true teaching opportunity, using inquiry and project based teaching methods with your class of students!
Shifts are assigned by employee preference (location & days) but you must be available at least twice per week between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
