Participation and Prizes
My one requirement is that my students want to learn and are excited about the entire process; from the actual lesson time to the daily practicing to recitals. With this enthusiasm, students will enjoy the process and rapidly excel!
There will be weekly and monthly competitions based on acquiring the most total practice minutes. Ten to fifteen minutes each day (or about 1 hour per week) is a good start for beginners. Intermediate to advanced levels should be adding about 5-10 minutes for each year of study.
Policies and Procedures
Payment is on a month-to-month basis, with payment for the current month due in full at the month's first lesson with a one week grace period.
Refunds are not available for payments, cancels or No Shows.
Lessons time slots are 30 minutes and will end on time. Arriving on time ensures a full lesson but late arrivals are still welcome.
Reschedule requests can be made no less than 48 hours prior to lesson. Makeups can be made on either the following Tuesday or following Friday on a case by case basis.
As far as books and music preferences go, I am very flexible and can work with almost anything that is on hand. I have used many methods including Alfred, Bastien, Thompson, Aaron, and Piano Adventures.
There may be some supplemental work (flashcards, theory work sheets, etc.) implemented at times but for the most part students can acquire adequate knowledge by simply working through a lesson book.
If you are in need of any materials you can either purchase them from me at a 10% discount or pick them up at any music store.
At least two recitals will be planned each year in the winter and spring seasons. For these events, students are greatly encouraged to pick out a song of their choice, work hard in practicing, and finally to perform the piece and share in a musical evening with family and friends.
