For a great tactile activity during which kids can also practice their writing and drawing skills, place a large pouf of non-menthol shaving on the kitchen table or kitchen counter and let your child smear and do whatever comes to mind. The magic part about it is that it rubs completely away (if you accidently get too much on there - that's hard to do - it rinses off easily with water). Preschool teachers use this trick to help clean their tables sometimes; it really gets down into textured surfaces.
