About Us
Heart Smart for Women is a FREE, entertaining and educational one hour class that meets for 12 weeks. Our goal is to improve women’s understanding of the risks of heart disease in women of all ages and benefits of improving their heart health as it applies to their individual needs. Our requirements are simple and few: the women enrolled need to be 18 years or older and the class has to be held in Tazewell County. If we come to your curch, home or other facility and do a daytime presentation, we need to have at least 10 women signed up and committed to attend. If we come to the facility in the evening, we need at least 18 committed attendees. We would need a room with chairs and tables as well as a transparency projector screen or wall or PowerPoint screen and computer to facilitate the weekly program. We would avoid holidays as needed. For example, if we started on October 23rd, we would finish January 29, not meeting on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Following the 12 week class, you should benefit from: · Becoming educated women and then families, as we see that when women take their new found knowledge home, they utilize it in lifestyle changes for the whole family. · An increased self-confidence as you are empowered to improve your own as well as your family’s health, a reduced risk of heart disease (which in turn reduces your potential risk for other diseases), and a better feeling of wellbeing overall as you see improvements in yourself and your family. · A potential increase in work attendance and job performance as your risk for disease decreases through proactive management of heart health rather than reactive management of your disease processes. This is a wonderful opportunity provided by a grant program each year. It has a value of over $300 in information, materials, and motivation: FREE to any woman age 18+ in Tazewell County.
