A newsletter for the toddler families of Bixby

Lessons from Toddlers… One thing I have learned as a mom is that toddlers are not afraid to EXPRESS THEMSELVES with intense emotion! They also have a tendency to switch from one emotion to the next in a matter of seconds. It is amazing. As crazy as it may get at moments, no matter how much emotion is being expressed by our little ones, we love them anyway. Sometimes they just need to let it all out and they trust us with it. As parents, we (usually) can handle it. God is the same way. He is our daddy and He can handle our emotion. Not only can He handle it, He loves us deeply and cares about everything concerning us, INCLUDING our emotions. In fact, He wants us to come just as we are and freely express what we are feeling to him. There is no need for masks or burying our feelings when it comes to God. He is the one person in our lives that can handle the drama and emotions we experience. In fact, we don’t have to be careful to choose all the right words when talking to him, watch our tone of voice or even hide our feelings. We don’t have to pretend we are doing well even when we aren’t. He knows, He cares, and He can handle it! So, let it out!!! If you feel like you are going crazy, share it with Him. If you are angry, don’t be afraid to let it all out to Him. If you are just feeling silly, laugh with Him. If you are tired and worn out, tell Him about it. What a relief it is that we can just take off the masks and be ourselves with God. In His presence is the safest place to be and when you take time to trust Him with your emotions, you will feel much better.

Toddler field TripsLet’s go to the zoo, park, mall play ground… You name it! Feel free to share your ideas and join me in planning some extra activities. Just let me know where and when and I will send out the details to everyone via email or place it in the Toddler Talk newsletter.
