constipation!

hi moms!, i am a mom to a wonderful, (special needs" three year old son. he doesnt eat much/has a feeding tube; he pretty much lives on pediasure.  he stays contipated, and no matter what we do nothing has really worked all to well with getting is bowl movements "regular", to where he goes once a day. we have tried fiber pediasure, prune juice, priscription laxitives, (like miralax, milk of magnesia, etc.)of which are also over the conter too.  the only thing that DOES work are the liquid glycerin supositoies, but thats only some thing we can give only "once in awhile due to, it can cause his body to stop being able to go on his own, and become ddependant on it. i have asked his G-I dr. about cod liver oil, but hes not all that crazy about that kind, and mineral oil does NO good! does anyone have any other NATURAL thing that could do the trick? i have heard castor oil isnt very good for you. please help!

Try this, It should help and definitly won't hurt!

After each meal, lay your baby on a pillow on his back.

1. Massage his belly with your finger tips going in a clockwise circle around his belly button 5-10 times. Then do light presses with your fingertips around his belly button in a large clockwise circle about 5 times or more if he likes it.

2. Take his legs and rotate his hip by holding his calves as his legs are bent, 5 times clockwise, 5 times counter clockwise, and then 5 times clockwise again.

3. Now take his legs by his calves (not his joints) while they are bent and first press the right leg softly into his belly and then the left leg softly into his belly. Do this about 5-10 times. Then repeat it with both legs simultaneously into his belly.

Good Luck! Keep me posted!

this may be a little late since you posted in may, but I recently heard that rhubarb can be quite the effective laxative. of course you would have to puree it with sugar and strawberry or something like that because of the taste, but it's worth a try.
