Sleep at night |
How can I get my son to just go to sleep? Everytime I set him down he wakes up and screams. I can't hold him forever and it's eally starting to get really hard. So is there anything i can do to make it better? |

If you start a regular routine if you haven't yet try that example: dinner, bathtime, quiet play time and maybe read a book or sing to him then put him down. Just be sure and keep the routine up for awhile then he will know what to expect. Hope this helps. |

I have 3 boys, 4,1,4mths. and I did the same thing with all of them....let them cry it out. I know it sounds mean but trust me,it works. All three have been sleeping through the night since they were 5WEEKS old!! IMy husband and I would let them cry when we put them to bed. The younger they are the shorter the time we would give..example: the first few weeks we wouldn't let them cry more than 5minutes. after a few weeks they would try to push the envelope and cry longer than the 5mintues but we woudld go 10 mintues...the older they get, the longer you give and it really does work. All of my boys would be asleep with in a few mintues and sleep 10-12 hours a night. The first 2mths they would wake up after 5hrs for a feeding but would go right back down for another 5-7hrs. By 4mths they don't have any night feeds. If they still do wake, I wait a few minutes to see if they would fall back to sleep and they always did. If your child is still feeding through the night, feed them as regular but put them right back down. The key is to have them be awake when you put them to bed. If they fall asleep in your arms then they will depend on that. Another rule we have is No kids in mama and daddy's bed. It has worked for all 3 kids, it may work for you, It is still hard for me at times, especialy when they're teething and will wake during the night from the mouth pain, but I give motrin and put them back to bed. It may take a few nights because your child is now use to the way you've been doing it, but the habbit will brake. Just be strong.-Good luck!!!-Heidi |
