strong willed/ stuborn toddler son!

hi, i am a mom to a wonderful bright (almost three year old boy.) my problem is he is the most stuborn/ strong willed person i have ever known! i am a christian and believe in spanking, but sometimes  nothing works to get him to follow directions. would he possibly have sometype of undiagnosed problem? he does have a few issues,(and is a "special needs child" with developmental delays/ sensory problems, and doesnt eat,( he has a feeding tube,) but other than these things he is a normal, happy, awsome little boy.) what have some of you done for kids like this to get them to follow directions? he  does understand the commands/tasks i ask of him.

Teresa,

I would try positive reinforcement for good behavior. For misbehavior I would be firm and direct addressing the behavior as soon as it happens and making sure he know that you are not pleased with his behavior. I would also incorporate timeout as consequence when he misbehave. I hope this helps I too also have a three year old son.
