Things to be Thankful For

On Thanksgiving Day, we often take time before sitting down to that wonderful meal to make a short statement about things we are thankful for.  My family is no different.  This year, we (my sons and myself) were blessed to have my friend Kate and her son Vincent drive up from the valley and spend the day with us.

As this long weekend draws to a close, I thought about the number of days that go by when I don't say "THANKS" for my family, friends and new experiences of each day.  Do you say Thank You when things you perceive as "BAD" happen?  I don't - but I'm wondering now, maybe I should.  Each experience is a chance to grow - for me and my family.  I look at the grades my sons are making in school and instead of asking if there is a problem, I automatically assume it is something they are or are not doing.  Why do I make that assumption?  Do you ever make assumptions like that?

Good or bad - each experience is a chance to learn a new way of seeing the situation.  It is up to me (and up to you) how I (or you) label each experience.

Today I want to take the opportunity to say THANKS for every day and every experience of every day.  I want to offer anyone reading this post the opportunity to do the same.

Blessings to each and everyone for a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.

I agree I jump to conclusions instead of asking and I need to be more thankful out loud to my family and friends and everyday life.
Thanks for the post I am off to hug my family and tell them how important they are to me no matter how annoying they can be :)
