Help starting potty training!

My son turned 2 today. He has sat on the potty and gone but I am not sure he knew what he was doing. He goes to the bathroom with both me and his dad. He tells me poop when his diaper is wet. Is he ready to potty train? Is it ok for him to go to the bathroom with both of us? Should I just sit him on the toilet? Please I have no idea what I am doing.

I am in the same boat my daughter who is almost 2 is taking forever to potty train, everyone says its too early but too help I should take her when she wakes and about 15 mins after a cup or meal
