Hello,
I am a first time mom to a 4 week old. We opted for the cloth diaper route and I am ready to throw in the towel (or the diaper as the case may be).
Does anyone have similar experience with excessive leaks and changes? Have you found one brand of plastic pants more reliable than others?
Thanks
Deirdre
Every parent will say different brands. It just all depends on what you and your baby likes. I have been using White Cloud (Walmart brand) since my son was 3 months and now he is 2 years old.
I dont know anything about cloth diapers, but I use the Luvs brand disposable diapers. I have considered buying store brands before but when I look at the package it usually says 'ultra thin' or something like that, which to me translates to 'not very absorbent'. And they are usually only like $2 cheaper than what I buy, so I figure its not worth it to buy the store brand if they are going to go through more of them. However I do use store brand pullups, when potty training.
At 4 weeks, your baby is still going through lots of diapers a day. As he gest older, the number of changes per day will also go down and his schedule will become more regular. You're obviously frustrated and an unhappy mom is not good for baby. My suggestion would be to take a few days off from cloth diapers and use the disposables to give yourself a break. Then, go back to them and see if you can get a better fit. I use the Bumgenius 3.0 and I love them. But I've also declared disposable diaper days when things get hectic.
We use Gdiapers they are the greatest. I have used them with both kids. Look at the web-site. www.Gdiapers.com. A lot of moms switch from the cloth 2 these... I did!!!
