My 20 month still wakes up once a night!

My little girl has issues staying asleep all night.

She currently has one nap during the day(1-2hrs long), late morning or early afternoon.

She goes to bed between 7:30pm-8 and sometimes wakes about 11ish and sometimes sleeps right until 4am and wakes up.

She wakes up crying like she is in pain and it is very possible because she has all her teeth (including 1 year molars) except one wee little eye tooth on the bottom that is almost through so perhaps that is the problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Just wanted to mention some ideas. There's such a thing called "night terrors" where the child will wake screaming like their in pain only when you go to them they're unresponsive, like your not in the room. They cry and when you try to comfort them they cry harder, they want nothing or no one and can get physical with such anger it's scary to see. We found out these are night terrors and what they are caused by is lack of sleep and what you can do about them, nothing. It's not recommended to wake the child because they will not remember what's happening and become frightened. (we didnt know this and did wake him a few times) the best thing to do is stay in the room just to make sure the child doesnt hurt themselves. I know sounds cold but it's what our ped. recommended.
As for the molars, try asking her if her teeth hurt. If she cant communicate to you yet ask questions, point to your teeth and ask if they bother her. This was our only way we'd know our toddler was teething, constant crankiness and he didnt know how to tell us but when I pointed to my own teeth and asked him if he had a boo boo in his teeth he'd nod his head and we'd give him tylenol. So, I guess it's process of eliminatation or just to avoid the daytime naps or cut them in half. Good luck! We've all been there!
