Feeding Problems!!!

Help! I'm having problems feeding my 7 month old daughter with a spoon.

I've been feeding her twin since she was 6 months old, and there is no problem there, so I don't think the problem is that "I'm doing it wrong".  However, this baby waits until the food is in her mouth, and then either lets it dribble out (with a lot of saliva) or she spits it out (on purpose).

It has been one month that I've been patiently trying to talk her through the process of eating her cereal.  I've made sure that she receives enough food by putting the same cereal and fruit in her bottles, so I know that she will take the food, but just not on a spoon.  I have even tried the 'puffed' cereal product from Gerber that melts in her mouth, and she doesn't like that either.  I've tried allowing her to hold the food and play with it, in hopes that she will put it in her own mouth and then like it.  This did not work either.

It has gotten to the point where her ped. gastro. doctor is having us go to a 'feeding therapist' to evaluate her.

Has anyone else had such long term problems feeding a baby, and what did you do to correct it.  I worry that she'll be sucking on a bottle exclusively for years to come.

Thanks for your advice!!!

I wouldn't sweat it too much...there really isn't a "magical" age when babies should be eating from a spoon...
if she is still gaining weight she is doing fine...
my son didn't start eating baby food until he was almost a year old and than one day it just clicked with him...
give it time, she'l get there!
I promise one day she will give up her bottle and you will wonder where the time went!

I have 2 year old twins and my son did not take to baby food or cereal like his sister. I agree with Cynthia, babies are different and I don't think I would have worried about it if I did not have his sister to compare him to. Seven months is still young.

I let my son play with the spoon and the bowl, (while it was empty) and he really took to the spoon after that. I am now trying the same thing with his sippy cup and I really feel like that helps. Every time my son is in his high chair, i let him have the spoon and the bowl. After about 2 weeks of letting him play with it, he finally started to take food from the spoon.
