Stopped breastfeeding at 4 months old help
I've decided to stop nursing at 4 months. I feel like I am ready to stop since I was only doing half breastmilk and half formula. Is it safe to stop cold turkey? Will I be in pain? I'm on day 2 of no nursing and feel the firmness and some discomfort but not pain. It feels like when you hope for rain but only get the clouds. I would also like some positive emotional support for this transition. Thank you.

I stop cold turkey and yes there will be some pain but not bad like labor. I had no choice but to stop breastfeeding my son because he gave me thrush and everytime I tired to nurse and or even pump it would hurt because my breasts were cracked. It will usually take about a week for you to feel pain. And it will stop after a couple of weeks. If you need any more support just let me know.

Michelle,

Thank you for responding. I am not feeling any pain although there is still some milk in there. I will miss the experience. There is nothing like it, although we have wonderful bonding using the bottle. He roots sometimes but very rarely, which is a relief. He actually just started rice cereal this week.
