My daughter is almost 21 months old. She has been going to the same daycare since she was 14 months old. She has always been a very bright and friendly child. She recently had a double ear infection that lasted a month and just got over the stomach virus.(she only missed 1 day of daycare during this time) and is currently getting 8 teeth at once. For the past 3-4 days she has been throwing TERRIBLE tantrums especially when I drop her off at daycare and pick her up at daycare. It is to the point where my daycare provider is concerned and I am afraid she is going to ask my daughter to leave the daycare. My daughter screams for me, hits her, scratches at her own face, pushes anyone who gets in her way, etc. ALl because I leave her at daycare. Could she still be sick? Could separation anxiety be kicking in to the extreme? It is impossible to calm her down. Is this normal? I use time out at home which seems to calm her down for a little bit, but then one wrong move and she is back at it. (mind you this is all recent behavior and the last time she threw a tantrum like this is when she had a previous ear infection). I spoke to my daycare provider about anything possibly going on at daycare that Ava doesn't like and she said nothing has changed. Help! I am hoping this is just the beginning of the terrible twos, but could something else be going on with her? Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? |
