Raising your child bilingual....

Hello fellow moms (and dads).  I wanted to raise some awareness about the wonderful, life long benefits that come with the acquisition of a second language at an early age. **There's more than just learning to speak another language**.  I was raised bilingual myself (English/Spanish), but in my case it was easy for my parents to do so, as we temporarily  moved to a Spanish speaking country when I was young.  Now with two little boys of my own, I find it very challenging to raise them bilingual when they are predominantly surrounded by English.  I did a lot of research about this subject,  and I was determined more than ever to raise my two boys bilingual, the benefits are just amazing!!!  Hence I started a Spanish learning playgroup where I live in Florida, for toddlers and preschoolers.  I have a website (www.wearelittleamigos.com), I encourage you to visit the "benefits" page.  Of course, this applies to any other language, not just Spanish.  I encourage parents to find a language learning playgroups in your area for you and your child to join, or start one yourself, there are many bilingual books and resources that can help you give your child one of the best gifts.... a second language!

 Gracias-
