KIDS WITH ALLERGIES

Hello Everyone,

My son has a lot of allergies and I would like to meet other parents that also have kids with allergies. I have been living with allergies for years, but nothing like what my son has to deal with. My son has a lot more allergies then I do. He has life threatning allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. He also has mild asthma and eczema due to allergies. Plus he also has other allergies as well.

There are all kinds of allergies out there, and lots to learn about them. I started a group so we as parents can learn more about kids allergies from each other. I also hope that we can give each other advice and support as well as share some of our stories. I hope that this group will help a lot of others out there as well as myself.

Does your child have allergies? Do you have to keep an Epi-pen with you at all times? Do you have to check all of the lables of everything he/she eats? Does your child have eczema and/or asthma due to allergies? Would you like to have other parents to talk to about your kids allergies? If so please checkout this group "Raising Kids With Allergies, Asthma, & Eczema"....we would love to hear from you. Looking forward to chatting with you soon!

Thanks!

Hi Trish,
My name is Heather and my son has lots of allergies. This is his second go around with them actually. He started in 2002 with only grass allergies and wheat and corn. Now in 2008 we do another test and he has sooooo many more. I am a mom that when I go shopping I have to look at each of the labels (which takes me twice as long at the grocery store now). His isn't life threating though. We have to keep benadryl around all the time just in case of break outs.
I am so glad that you started this group, we as parents need all the help that we can get dealing with the allergies.

Do you ever wonder why a lot of our children and loved ones are having so many allergic reaction to things? I have, and was doing some research concerning chemical exposure in our homes, since this is where we spend most of our time. I knew that our skin was the largest organ in our body, but didn't realize that is acts just like a sponge, and will absorb anything that comes in contact with it. Just think, for example, about what we are washing our clothes in. There is residue from the soap left behind in our clothes and not all of it is rinsed away. So our clothes end up acting as transdermal patched. Like the nicotine patch, birth control patch, etc...how do they get the medicine in then?...Right through the skin! I am amazed at all I have been finding out...and have been wanting to spread the word...there are safer, healthier products out there. I have a blog for my family and friends that shares what I have been using and learning if you would like to see it.

My middle son has Athesma(which runs heavily in his dad's side) and also has ezemia too..He gets it really bad on his elbows and knees. (yep, benedryl here too)
Back to my oldest son(11yrs) has developed in the last 2 yrs, this rash that itches him so bad in the summer. I can't figure out why..I have tried different bug sprays, detergents, fabric sofners...you name it and i have tried it...

My daughter,10 and youngest son, 3, both have eczema. For, the past 2 years, doctors and dermatologists have prescribed lotions, ointments, etc. When the next step was steroids, I said no thank you, there must be another solution. Like, Hayley, I too dove into ingedient lists, natural remedies, anything I could find. I found loads of info, too much to process actually. The nagging feeling that I knew the anwer kept screaming from somewhere in my memory bank. My granny used to chunk us a bar of "soap" and say, "now get in the river and take a bath!"....back to the basics....it is sooo simple, I now replaced store bought items with homemade versions. Feel free to email me for info or recipes. Technologyand science are great, but Nature is grand. Good luck...
