Super gasey baby
I'm new here, and desperate for advice.  Hopefully someone can help.  My 4.5 month old recently stopped sleeping through the night.  The culpit is gas.  Every night, severl times a night, she wakes up due to gas pains.  The only way to fix the situation quickly without waking her fully is to feed.  As a result, she now sleps in bed with me cus she's feeding so often at night.  She's strictly breastfed.  I know when I eat certain things (like veggies) that makes it worse. I'm trying to eat bland, but perhaps not enough?   She also tends to suck down air when she's first latched on.  Since I nurse her to sleep, how do you burp a sleeping child?  She's not doing it on her own yet. I've tried Mylicon and Gripe Water - neither seem to do anything.  I'm at my whits end.  I don't sleep well when she's in bed with me (contorted in odd positions) and she's up approx. 4 times per night.  Please help!!

Hi Kate,
I would burp my daughter after she fell asleep by lying her on my chest. I also used the gas drops from the "little" brand ("little tummy's"). Both of these seemed to work for us. I did notice that what I would eat while I was breastfeeding affected her a lot too. Try to burp her a couple of times while she is eating and see if that helps. Hang in there, this will pass as she gets olded.

My daughter also had really BAD gas when she was born. My mother would have me give her chamomile tea and that would work wonders for me. I would give her a like 1 1/2 oz of tea and 1 1/2 oz of water. Hopefully this helps you. I know some people feel a little iffy about giving their babies tea. i asked our pediatrician about giving our daughter tea when she was small and he told me it was ok and just to dilute it with water.

Good Luck!
