Potty Training
OK, here is my question. I have a 16 month old, who seems to be interested in potty training. Now when I use the bathroom, he follows me in and knows what to do. When my husband is home, he takes our son with him too, to kinda show him what to do, you know! So, when is the best time to start, now or when the "book" says to? And if I start him now, how do I do it and what do I get to teach him?

Just get a little potty so that maybe he will imitate the adults!!! If you let him be without pressure maybe he will get an interest in it and you might be diaper free before you were hoping.

The problem is that one you put out the diaper you can not go on and off. So you have to make sure to deal with accidents.

I agree with Vero, books are nice to have as a loose guideline, but I personally don't believe in raising kids by the book. Every book out there will say something different. When your little guy is ready you will know it. Get him a small potty chair & let him explore it, talk with him about it, let him sit on it. Some babies are ready for it sooner rather than later. But just as Vero said don't get rid of the diapers until you know you are on a path to diaper freedom. Because once the diapers are gone they need to stay gone. If they don't you will be fighting the potty training time instead of enjoying. Also, remember please ENCOURAGE, ENCOURAGE, ENCOURAGE!!!! Good Luck!!!!
