I'm Living a Cartoon Nightmare!!! |
Why is it that no one speaks that the highlight of their day is totally off the wall, and seemingly unpractical. A lot of people talk about the highlight of their day being the raise/promotion they just got, how they have accomplished one of their life long goals, so on and so forth. The lowlight of thier day being they lost their job, last night's blind date turned out to be a total flop...... Well congrats, or my sympathies with you, which ever may be the case. These aren't things that I can really brag about. The highlights of my days tend to be Dora did it, again, I'm not exactly sure what she did any more, for the sake of my sanity I quit paying attention to that, but she sings about it at least 5 times a morning. What about Joe from Blues Clues telling me I figured it out and that I'm really smart. What a way to build my confidence, even if I have no clue what it is that I figured out other than I watch (or ignore, depending on the day) by far way too many kids shows. Oh yeah, it makes one feel really normal in a realatively strange world to hear about the duck that can cock-a-doodle-do. Oh and by the way I can be a Higgley Town Hero too. :D The lowlights of my life tend to be that Swiper took it from Dora, that is just so sad. When one of Deago's animal friends get into trouble. Or when there is an animal in trouble some where and they have to call the Wonder Pets. And it's always just such a crying shame when Jeff falls asleep in the middle of the show, just as Dortothy (the Barny knock-off) dinasoar wants to sing a song with Henery the Octopus, Wags the dog, Captin Feathersoard (I admit I have to wonder about him, lol)and the rest of the Wiggles crew. Can we fix it?....You usually do and I've gotten to the point where I really just don't give a sh*^ anymore!! But really I guess that it don't matter what the cartoons are. Children are the greatest thing in this world. They are our chance to change the world one life at a time, for the bigger the impression we make on them, positive or negative, the bigger the difference they will make in the lives of those around them. I don't think that there is any greater joy in this world than waking up every morning to look into a childs eyes and know that you are the world, that you truely are Superman and you could rope the moon for them if you wanted to. So the highlights of my days are what Dora can do today (or for the 60th time in the last 30 days)or if the lowlights of my days are animals getting stuck in totally unrealistic places and having to call on a bunch of baby rodents to help. The reality of it is that the highlights of my days are the smile on a two year olds face when I eat her toes, or the wonder in a four year olds eyes when she discovers something new that may seem extrodinairily simple to you and me, or the pure contentness in my seven year old when I sit down and play the stupidest, just made up game. Who cares if the lowlights of my days are changing the fifth dirty diaper in a row, or cleaning up melted chocolate not only from all over the child but my walls and everything else in reach, or finding that while I was dealing with one child another was scratching the hell out of the brand new DVD that I just bought and haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it all the way through. When I look back on the past there isn't a single thing that I would do different, and when I look out on the future I don't see how it could get much brighter. It's all worth it and there is no greater experence. Great Googely Woogelies! |

I have to say that I am eternally greatful to Dora and Diego to open up a door in my sons brain! Because of Dora we made map to every road trip we made and the word made a lot of more sense to them.
Diego of course taught them all about animals and their habitat..so who can complain about cartoon like that. I just use them as reward for good behavior or 30 min. of peace.
Love cartoons on TIVO! |
