Any idea for "smart" goody bags?

I am getting ready to celebrate my kids 6th birthday and I am always at loss when I have to decide on goody bags...even if frankly I would do without!

Goody bags are a new concept for me, and I would also adopt the Hong Kong custom of not giving gift..just because kids  have already so much.

A celebration is not about gift and goody bags! Anyway I am conforming so do you have any idea of "smart" goody bags?

Hi Vero,
I just recently had my daughter first b-day. Instead of making bags with candy or loud toys I went and got some bubbles. The kids enjoyed them and they arent too messy (as long as they are outside).

It is true that they enjoy bubbles at every age!

Thanks

I also just celebrated my son's first bday and also gave them bubbles only because my mother in law bought them for me. My husband is totally against the idea of spending money then you have to. He is a tight wod. Sorry if the word is not spelled right.

My sister and I have done goody bags before. We enjoy doing them for valentines day and easter. We're not huge on the candy idea as maybe our parents were. To costly on the dental expenses. We've gone to the dollar store and picked out education books, coloring books, crayons, flash cards things on that nature. We feel its good to maybe give 2 or 3 fun things they can do for awhile and one little candy goody. Thats what we've done for past holidays as I listed before. We had no complaints for the kido's either.
