Teen son will not invite girlfriend to our house
We have a 16 year old son who has been dating a 15 year girl from school for about a month now, and we have yet to meet her. My son will go to her house to hang out (parents and siblings are also home) but does not want to bring her to our house to hang out or for dinner. We even told him to pick a nice restaurant and we could all go out for dinner. We are "young" parents--35 and 37, live in a nice home, very family oriented but can't seem to figure out why he does not want to invite her over. Of course, we tried discussing the situation with him but he does not like to talk about it.  Any ideas what he's thinking? Is this typical of a teenage boy?

oh yeah this is very normal even when you think you are good "cool"parents the teen will not think so my 16 yr old son had a party while we were away got out of control and stuff got broken and taken anyway his good friends helped with the clean up and others gatecrashed. the week after we asked him to invite the good friends over to have a chat about it and try to find out who was responsable my husband gave my son no choice but to invite them over.when they came over we had a drink with them and hung out a bit then left them to it.the next day he said they all thought we were soo cool he was soo lucky but he still wont invite them over not did we meet his girlfriend ...he has broken up with her now I think. My advise would be just to leave it alone he will bring her around when he is ready and when he does dont make a big deal out of it he will be embarassed shy he wont know how to act around her in front of you just back off and let him come around in his own time.the more you push the further away he will get from you.
