Hi,
Emilie is a year and still eats cereal, I mix in some friut or veggies too. As far as traveling, can you plan a stop about half way? maybe get something to eat or bring a blanket (if there is a grassy area) so you can all strech out. As far as in the car, bring some toys or maybe you can read a book to her. if you are lucky she will sleep for most of the ride or be looking out the window. Emilie is good in the car for about 2 hours, then she whines and wants to move around. But I usually feel the same way minus the whining lol. Have fun on your trip.

I'm sure I'm getting my suggestion in too late, but you should try getting her a mirror that you strap on to the headrest of the back seat so she can look at herself. They sell some with lights and toys on them. The one i use has a remote that i control and hang from the visor in front of me. That way I can surprise her and turn it on and off randomly. I got it at babies r us, but there are so many models now. Added bonus, you can look at her through the review mirror!
