Mid-Mid life Cisis |
So, my fiancee is turning 26 on August 9. Not old by all means yet. Lately he has been acting weird. Like, last week he came home and he wants to buy a helicopter. Yep, a helicopter. Not a full size one, a smaller one thank god. but still, they are around $5000. So, we were talking last night and he said he is at the top of his career and cant go any higher so he feels like he is in a mid life crisis at 25. I dont know how to deal with it. He said the only thing to look forward to now is having a boy. ok, like i cna control what sex our next baby is. we have a beautiful little girl, ella who is 5 months old already. he loves her to death, but he wants a boy to carry on hi name since there are no other boys in hte family that are having kids. i dont know how to comfort him. i feel like our lives are just beginning. because they are. we are planning a wedding and having babies and just beginning our journey through life. How do i comfort him or deal with it when i dont really understand it. He gets mad when i tell him we cant afford a helicopter. he put all of his other toys that he has worked so hard to get on craigs list last night to sell them to buy one. what happens when he gets bored with the helicopter and wnats his 4 wheeler or snowmobile back? we do live in minnesota, hello... you cant exactly fly a helicopter in the winter. it just frustrates me. any one else ever deal with a mid life crisis at 25? |

Hi Devon,
I am not one to push church on anyone but it sounds like he is in search for "joy" and we as humans think we can find it in "things and possessions." I know you can't say "hey hun, lets go to church," and everything be peachy but there are two things I would like to suggest. 1) if he thinks he is at the top of his game, then go to the local college and get some brochures on classes, do some research on the internet and if you know him well, look at careers he would be good at. There is a website: http://www.livecareer.com which identifies which careers you should avoid and which ones are right for you. I took it and really learned more about myself and what I would be good at. The first part of it is free and it will give you information about yourself. I copied and pasted to a word document so I would have it. They offer a more extensive section that you can purchase. I didn't feel that I needed to purchase it but you might once you see what the site can do for you. I hope this helps.
2) I definately would find a church home because living for God helps us keep our eyes off of our self and focus on singing praises to God and helping others. Hope this helps, Susan |
