Weight Loss
Well ... I've hit my first plateau ... so I'm going to start using the treadmill daily. It is so hard to use that I can't go for very long, so I guess I'll just do what little I can several times a day, and hope it all adds up! And after a while, I'll be able to do it for longer and longer periods. For those of you who haven't heard about this treadmill yet, it's a non-motorized NordicTrak - that's why it takes so much effort to use! I've lost weight so slowly and been at this particular weight more than a week so I'm used to it - so I kind of feel like this size is my "normal" size and I haven't lost anything at all. In reality I've lost 18 pounds, but it's strange how our perceptions of things can be altered by time and familiarity. Only 47 more pounds to go now. If my heading is figuring it right that's ABOUT 2.5 the amount I've already lost. I can do that! I've just got to be patient with myself. I can't wait until my kids notice I'm losing. They know I am because I talk about it all the time, but they haven't really noticed the changes because they've been so gradual. It will be fun to see their reactions when they can tell that I'm losing. They've only ever known me at 160 lbs. and up (I'm so short that makes me a round butter-ball). Although I got down to 120 lbs after Daniel was born, I started gaining again when he was about three and he says he can't remember me skinny! I can shop in the regular sizes now: size 18! I haven't been able to do that since I don't know when. For a long time I wouldn't shop for clothes at all because I didn't want to see what size I was wearing. Honestly, I was afraid I'd cry right there in the middle of Wal-Mart! And I'm starting to experience a problem I've had since I was very young and skinny: my hips and waist are out of proportion with each other according to clothing manufacturers. I'm either squeezing my hips into a size that fits my waist, or feeling windy at the waist in order to wear something that fits my hips. At this age and stage of the game, I think I'll go with what's comfortable in the hips - I'm just not into squeezing into too tight clothes anymore. This may be TMI, but here it comes any way: I had very little in the way breasts when I was smaller, and, of course, that seems to be the first place I'm losing weight now! My hubby comes up to me when I'm at the computer each day, looks down the front of my shirt, and says, "Yep! They're still there!" I'm not too worried about him though, because he married me with little ones. I've revealed quite enough for one day! See you later!
