HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
I turned 42 today. When my son asked me last week what I wanted for my birthday, I said, "Peace and quiet." (which, by the way, is the same thing I asked for for Mother's Day!). It was a quiet day. An uneventful Dr. appt. No major computer glitches, no contraversial topics or high emotions on any of my groups, the kids were quiet and busy, my hubby was in a good mood, several people called or emailed to wish me happy birthday, I got to take a nap, went to Subway for dinner, and now am winding down my day. A friend and I were emailing back and forth this morning about how I was turning 27 today, and how I had Josh (my 21 year-old son) when I was VERY young. But it got me to thinking: There are people out there who are very sensitive about their age and people who lie about their age. I don't know if it is because I was brought up in family with a lot of elderly people, but age has never bothered me. In fact, the older I get the more seriously people take me, and that is important to me. I earned every one of these 42 years. There were times in my young adulthood when I thought I wouldn't make it to this age, and probably wouldn't have if I hadn't made some lifestyle changes. I've experienced a lot in my 42 years, that makes me the person I am today. And I'm not ashamed it's taken every bit of 42 years to get to this point! HEY, WORLD, I'M 42 YEARS OLD ANDPROUD OF IT! I also don't mind my grey hairs and stretch marks either - but that's two subjects for two other days!

Hi Kelly,

I am 42 too, and I share your vision of age.

The day of my birthday I told my childhood friend: Why I did not feel so young at 20 years old!

Happy Birthday,

Vero
