WANTING PLAYGROUP TIPS... |
Hi. I am trying to reach all those experienced playgroup moms to give me some tips on starting, and managing a playgroup. Our group meets for the first time in a week and i do not know what most moms expect really from a playgroup or what activities. I know some of this will be answered after talking with the moms then, but i am sure some things are universal to all groups.
I would like tips/suggestions on where to meet, what activities to do (most of the kids are around toddler age), size of gp etc.
Also, if you have encountered any problems/irritations/complications with your group i would love to have your input. Thanks a lot! : ) |

My tips for a succefull playgroup:
1. Limit 10 kids.
2.Determine the age-range of the children.
3.Decide if you want a structured activities or only free playtime.
4.Stick with a certain day and time. Change location so the kids don't get bored: Park in the summer, houses or indoor playground in the winter.
5. Find parents with whom you share interests and parenting style.
Good luck!

Hi,
I would say that park playdates work well...
Do a mom's night out once a month....
Also do you have a mall near you with on of those play areas for the kids to run and play while the moms could sit and chat..
Do you have a large group of moms? If you have a small group then playdates at other moms homes work well.. make sure that you have the person hosting the playdates to have the home child proof..
Good luck...

We also go to the zoo, aquarium, water attractions (live in FL), and have a monthly birthday celebration for all the moms and babies born in that month. Most places offer annual passes so it doesn't break the bank, and group discounts! Also check the library for story time, some offer puppet shows and dancing. I search on google too and find community stuff like parades and other free family friendly events for my city. |
