If it has been three days, and no change, it might be something more than just your run of the mill diaper rash. I might call your pediatrician and ask about hydrocortisone cream?!?! Give hime a kiss for me;) Sarah |

It helps to try to leave him without diaper as much as possible even if there are accidents! Get also a prescription cream sometimes the OT cream are not strong enough.

Boudreaux's butt paste works really well, too. Also, if it's been more then 3 days, I would definitely call the dr for something stronger they can prescribe. |

Don't use wipes. They make it worse. Use wet warm papertowels and softly wipe. You can use any of the diaper rash meds, but we would use neosprorin until the rash went way. The neosporin helped heal the diaper rash very quickly and not using the wipes help. The wipes even if they are frangrance free and everything else free they will still bothers the rash. Good luck and hope it clears up soon for you. |

Sometimes a good slathering with a zinc oxide cream does the trick, also, my kids got rashes when they drank too much milk |

JUST TO ADD FOR THE FUTURE. YES THE WIPES ARE A NONO INSTEAD USE WARM WATER AND BAKING SODA IN A BATH THEN DRY WELL>try A and D ointment too. it worked like magic for my little one and so did the otc lotrimin when she had yeast as a baby ...was he on any antibiotics that gives yeast to the babies same as us. |

I would agree that it sounds like yeast sounds like what my daughter experienced and we finally got an rx for Nystatin cream and that worked super quick. A couple of good otc's to try for tough diaper rash are resalin not sure on spelling right now and triple paste. Hope this helps. Kim |

I had the same problem with my son. It was so sever that he would scream and at one point it was bleeding.
His pediatrician suggested us to use Lotrimin AF for few days, no wipes (use only warm washcloth), and leave him bear w/no diaper as much as possible 2xs a day. Once we used Lotrimin AF for 4 days the reddest part started to subside.
A friend of mine recommended Ultra Dyprotex, and it works great. It is better than any other diaper rash ointment I used. His bum never looks red when I use this ointment. Unfortunately, it is sold only at Walgreens and at no other stores. I think you can also get it from Amazon .
Best of luck to you. |

Hi,
Every time my baby goes on antibiotics she gets a really bad rash, her doctor is from the old school. (he is 93)...lol.
he said to put a teaspoon of brewers yeast in her formula, and pat down with a very weak solution of vinager water. then at every change put calmasetine. its over the counter, but most stores don't carry it, Target will order it for you, a 8oz tube is about $7. My doc said she needed the yeast because her ph level was off. the brewers yeast lasted forever, and I got it at the health food store.
Good luck |

I had the same problem with my son, he went almost 8 months before he got a diaper rash once he did we used aveeno cream cleared it right up, then when he got the rash again we used the same cream but the rash got worse, so we tried different creams, I cant remember how many we bought. I finally took him to the doctors and she said it was a yeast infection gave me an RX for Nystatin cream in less than 2 days it was clear. Then the next time he got a diaper rash again we used the old creams, and the same thing happened it got worse, so we diecided to use the nystatin and it cleared it right up, so we got rid of all the creams and only use the nystatin and it works wonders, my pediatrician gives me a refill any time we need it, plus with our ins. its cheaper than any diaper rash cream. Not sure if our son is allergice to the creams or not but dont want to take any chances I just use what works for him. Good luck to all. |

Watch his diet, too don't use diapers as often as possible during naps with a towle under him, or cornstarch instead of baby powder. for pain a little tylonel, Try to give him a bath with warm water a few tablespoons of baking soda.3 times a day for a few days should do it I worked for my girl. IF nothing else call the doctor. I know it seem like alot to do but it works |

My dear daughter had her first rash just last weekend. I was doing everything I could think of to give her some relief...none of the store brands were working. I had some stuff called MelaGel from Melaleuca. So, I decided, it couldn't hurt to try...you won't believe this...but her rash was clear up in 24 hours...with no evidence that she even had one. I was amazed!
I shop with Melaleuca for just about everything now because I know they are safe for my family and environment...if you would like to know more, just send me an email...you can also look at my blog, the link is below my name.
