I am a firm believer that lunch is still the most important meal of the day because it recharge your energy for the other half of the day. Especially for children that use so much physical and mental energy. However, because of the school schedule often they get robbed of a good healthy meal. Often they don't finish their food or they end up snacking all day long. My point is that it is possible to prepare healthy lunch box and make sure that they take lunch time seriously! How important is lunch for you?
All meals are important, breakfast to get you going lunch to keep you going, and dinner to give you enough energy to get up and do it all again.
A healthy selection of fruits and veggies are great for snack but the main meals have to be the what's most important to me. My son's not very old but I've started him (hopefully) done the right path with good choices and a routine of meals. I plan on making lunches when he's old enough to go to school since I remember that school lunches were both gross and seemingly unbalanced. It doesn't take long to make meals to send, it can give him a selection he wouldn't get at school, and it hopefully will send him the message that I care about him no matter where he is.
Right now we have two snacks a day and three meals, with lots of water, milk and juice.
