Relationship Help? My child is trying to rule my life

How does a single mother of a 10 y/o child with multiple diagnosis try to have a relationship? I have been single over 3 years now since my child scares off everyone, so I finally met a nice man and he convinces me he won't be scared off by my son, but my son is doing everything he can to destroy it. My son tells me I don't deserve to be happy. Please help.... I don't want to be single forever and realize my son comes first but I deserve to be happy also.
