Advice about behavior after losing a cousin to brain cancer?
I have a cousin that passed away from Brainstem Cancer 2 weeks ago, she was 10 years old. I have a daughter that is also Crystal 's age 10 years old.
Carley has been acting out yelling, screaming, hitting me, she gets angry and has an attitude everyday. She throws things at me and says she hates me like a teenager. Is this behavior from her normal or is she greiving from the loss of her cousin. She says she doesn't need counseling but I think different. Crystal and Carley were very close, As a parent and Crystal's cousin I am worried for Carley...Any suggestions???
I am not specialist but it seems that she does not know how to grieve the loss of her cousin. I always find that kids are very open about receiving straight information while they try to make sense of the world around them. Maybe you should talk about her loss, and talk about the good moments she had with her cousin and let her know that bad thing happen in life but we can talk about it and make it better. Sorry for your loss.
