How do I stop my daughter from throwing tanrums?

When Isabella doesn't get what she wants she throws herself backwards arching her back, sometimes hurting herself. She does it when I put her down on the floor, pass her to my husband, even when we are just sitting on the couch together and she gets mad. She's only 10mths old and its already bad. I need help. What should I do?

I know I need to have discipline of some sort but what kind of discipline do you give to a 10mth old?

Hi Kaylee! I have worked with many children over the years. From my experience, I have learned that NOT giving the behavior ANY attention whatsoever works the best. I would put her down (on the floor or in her crib), say NO! and walk away. This will show her that her behavior is not acceptable. At first, she will cry(maybe even intensify her crying), but after she experiences these consequences over and over, she will understand that her tantrum is not getting her what she wants OR any parental affection. The main point for YOU to remember is to CONFIDENTLY let her know that YOU are in charge and not her. Whatever you do, do not let her get what she was tantrumming for! This will only make your work more challenging, send her confusing messages, and ultimately put HER in charge. I hope this helps!
