I took the cold turkey route with my kids. It took about 3 or 4 days for my boys to forget about it. Its kinda like the newborn stage all over again. He'll probably wake up every couple hours looking for but it wont last long. to help him sleep thru the night cut his naps about 15 minutes short during the day so he'll be more tired at night. I hope this helps!

We just put several pacifiers in his crib. My boys learned to search for it and they usually found one of them. We did have some time of me getting up in the night to give it back to him. If you want to wean cold turkey, be prepared for some sleepless nights and a lot of crying.

Just wondering if there was a specific reason for you wanting to do this? My oldest son who will be 15 next week had a pacifier til right before he turned 3. We would keep 7 or 8 of them inhis crib and/or bed. When his cousin was born we (meaning myself and my son) decided to give the pacifiers to his cousin as a present at the hospital. We wrapped them up and he gave them away, never asked for them again. His teeth, no problem except a gap between the two front teeth but no buck teeth. Hope this helps.
