Hi Kaitlin,
My personal opinion, it depends whether you do it for the safety of your child or for your own convenience. If you use it at a busy place, like the airport, to make sure your child doesn't get lost, I think it is perfectly justified. |

I don't see anything wrong with it. I leash my son when we walk down the street because he gets distracted easily so if her gets away from me I have a back up plan to keep him safe. I get the looks but who cares? If you have a curious kid like mine it is better to be safe than sorry.

Of course it is your personal opinion, by the looks of it my opinion could make me enemys. I think it is WRONG! your child is not a dog, if you can not watch them walking down a street or anywhere else then you should and your child should be supervised by someone who can.
This is just how I feel...... |

i don't think it is wrong for safety it is a good idea, i've never used on, but in places like a parking lot or over crowded places it is a good idea, but there are people who do use it out of sheer laziness. |

i dont use it out of laziness,my daughters safety is important to me and her father .we only use it when we go to the mall because its a big place and i want her to have a good time there like we do and keeping her in a stroller is starting to get old for me n e way.and of course we bring the stroller with us but she likes to walk with us......and i think jennifer if u didnt have something nice to say then u shouldnt of said it because thats like calling me a bad parent. |

I use it when I walk my 19 month to the library or target we have to cross a 6 lane road. I don't care if I get the "looks" all I care about is my son and that he stays safe. Kaitlin you are just being smart by having a backup plan :) |

I loved the harness - or as we called it monkey backpack. I was unsure the first time we used it at the zoo but was immediately won over. It gave my son some freedom and exercise - he didn't have to be confined to a stroller - yet I didn't have to worry about him running off! We used it many times and I think there is nothing wrong with it. He loved wearing it.He's 3 1/2 now and we still occasionally use it! |

I agree with Amy.. I've never used one but I'm certainly not opposed to using one. I do agree that it gives your child more freedom rather than being confined to a stroller, like if your at a zoo or park it would give the child a way to have a little fun without being able to run to far away. I disagree with Jennifer's comment.. this is our children we're talking about not a dog.. a dog can be replaced, so if wearing a walking harness is going to protect them from getting away I'm all for it.. and I think your comment was a little harsh, were talking about child safety here come on.. |

I used one on my son until he got the idea that he is not supposed to take off, who cares what others say it is your child and you were given this precious gift to take care of and if they need a harness by all means make them wear one. My son was a classic runner he could take off in a split second and he could haul it. |

thanks for the support from many of you.i dont use the harness as much as i would like to but im going to try and get out more so its more useful.amy i wish the store by us had the monkey because my daughter would probly liked that one more but i have an actual backpack one that has room to fit things in it as well as a water bottle on the side. |

It depends on the child. My friend has a two year old boy. He is too big for a stoller. He doesn't want to hold his moms hand. We were at the mall one day and the little boy was all over the place. He is very active. She totally needed one that day. The harness keeps you in control but allows your child to feel like they're independent. When my son starts walking on his on best believe he'll be wearing one. |
