it takes a lot of patience and time. the average kid takes approx 8months to train and they usually are ready around 2yrs to begin training. so relax and enjoy the journey with you and your son. you can try a reward system -- everytime he potties correctly give him a sticker or something.

I would get rid of all diapers and pullups put him on only underwears. This will be a little messy at first as he will probably have a couple of accidents, but after about a week or 2 it will be well worth it he should be completely potty trained. Hope this helps.

Also I've heard to try throwing a couple of cheerios in for him to have something to aim at,, makes it more fun

When my son was 2 i got him a potty chair that made car noises when he went...thats all it took...he wanted to hear the car noises.

My son is also 2 1/2 and I had the same problem. The underwear was the way to go just like Alice said. I would be lying to you if I said it is simple. How many accidents can one kid have in a day?! BUT...it worked. He went from several accidents a day to being basically dry all day. He did have some set backs recently, but I attribute that to the stress of remarrying and moving to a new state three weeks ago. Even then he is back to one pair of wet underwear a day if that. Hope this helps. Hang in there!
