When to introduce sashimi?

I enjoy eating sushi, containing raw fish and I am curious to find out at what age is it safe to introduce raw fish to children?  Also, has anyone introduced raw fish to their little ones?  I would appreciate learning about others' experience stories with regard to this.  Thank you for sharing, looking forward to reading all the responses. - Amy

my older kids love sushi as does my hubby (12,13,14) they didn't eat it until the were older than 8

My little one tasted crab (cooked) but we were asked to stay away from seafood until after 2 or maybe 3 because of the mercury content and the risk of allergies.

I am sure she will taste sushi but I will wait until she is a bit older than now (20 months) I am not rushing her and since we are not a picky family she will be introduced to it all....I tried to steer her away from salsa but she sees us dip into it she HAS to have some so I put a little on the tip of a corn chip and tell her it might be hot... she tells me it's hot sticks out her tongue drinks water and wants more. So I know spicy will be ok later on :)

Kristhal,

Thank you very much for the insight! Good tip about the mercury content as well.

Thanks so much,
Amy
