Re: Angry Child

I recently took my boy to a pediatric doctor for his anger issues and also because he snores a lot while he sleeps (he has done this since he was an infant).  The doctor referred me to an ENT surgeon first before prescribing meds and/or therapy.  I was slightly confused yet pleased at the same time because drug therapy wasn't really mentioned until I asked about the possibility of the surgery not helping with his mood or behavior.  The doctor then proceded to inform me about ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) which he fit the symptoms perfectly. But he also told me that kids that son't get the proper amount of rest each night are more prone to behavior problems that can appear similar to ADHD and ODD.  The ENT surgeon recommended tonsil and adenoid surgery when we went for the appointment 2 days later, which he is scheduled for mid-June.  I hope that has a positive impact on his sleep patterns but also his behavior.

I wish you the best of luck and thanks for sharing esp. adding that some kids who don't get enough sleep can have these types (ADD,ADHD,ODD) disorders and behavior issues. If you don't mind my asking how is your sons behavior and how old is he? I went through A LOT with my 5yr old son esp. when he was younger and I still do have some issues with him.
