Hey everyone,

My name is Karyn Williams, I'm not a mom...but I am a big sister to 19 brothers & sisters and I'm also an aunt to 8 nieces and nephews!

I'm posting this blog to let everyone know about a book that I have just released with my dad, Pat Williams, Sr. Vice President of the Orlando Magic.

I moved to Nashville 2 years ago to pursue a music career.  The night before I left home, I wanted to give my dad a "going away" present, but nothing felt sufficient enough for everything he has done for me, so I decided to write him a card.  In the card, I thanked him for all he had poured into my life, and then I made a list of his most important life lessons, the ones I would carry with me for the rest of my life -- it was my own personal list of "takeaways".  We of course cried our eyes out, but then I heard my dad shout, "Karyn, this is a book!"  

The list I wrote that day became the chapter titles in our new book, "The Takeaway" - when it's all said and done, what will your kids take away from you?  

The heart of the message is simply this:  Parents, you ARE getting through to your children, even when you feel like you're not.  And children, listen to your parents - they know what they're talking about!
